What is a Fast Charger, and why do I need one?

Range Anxiety is a real thing, and can be quite distressing to EV owners.

Each EV will have a different size battery, different discharge rate under varying conditions and consequently variable Range. Additionally EV’s are capable of accepting charge at varying rates.

EV Owners just want a simple solution that gives them flexibility in charging times and certainty of range on a given day or per outing, without inconvenience. Even better if that charge can come from the sun, for free.

Your new car will most likely come with a compact portable plug-in charger. That charger usually plugs into a standard power point. It will be capable of about 1.5kW at a maximum of 8amps, so that means typically 1 hour of charging to get 10km of range.

It is a trickle charger, and usable range just trickles into your car, not always convenient, not always enough.

Have a look at the possibilities below when you have a FAST CHARGER
Single phase AC 7.4kW 40km range/hour of charging*
Three phase AC 22kW 120km range/hour of charging*

FYI, when you are out and need a top up, public chargers fall into three categories
Three phase DC 25kW 150km range/1.5 hour of charging* (to 80%)
Three phase DC RAPID 50kW 300km range/hour of charging* (to 80%)
Three phase DC ULTRA-RAPID 175kW 300km of range/15 minutes of charging* (to 80%)

A SMART FAST CHARGER can be programmed to charge your car on your excess solar available during the day, or on the night tariff from midnight to 6am.
You end up with a free charge, or a cheap charge.
This will at least half the running costs of your EV over a standard charger.
A FAST CHARGER will not just charge your EV battery, but will also condition that battery adding to its life as well as to the daily performance of your car. Range anxiety will no longer be an issue and charging your EV will be a simple stress free, care fee and maybe even cost free experience.
